PRNewswire

WAUCONDA — Synergy Flavors, a maker of flavors for the food and beverage industry, said it has acquired Chicago-based Sethness Greenleaf.

Terms of the acquisition were not announced.

With more than 120 years of history at Sethness Greenleaf, the purchase strengthens Synergy's offerings to several key markets as well as builds on the legacy in the Chicago area.

“This acquisition provides additional scale to Synergy in important beverage, dairy and bakery markets,” said Roderick W. Sowders, president and CEO of Synergy Flavors. “Sethness Greenleaf has an excellent reputation in the marketplace which has been built over 120 years and we are excited to have them as a part of Synergy. Additionally, we feel that Synergy's broader product offerings will bring additional value to Sethness Greenleaf's strong customer base.”

Patrick Kearney, owner and president of Sethness Greenleaf, said Synergy was the best fit for the company.

“When I decided it was time for me to pursue other interests, I wanted to find a buyer for this business that would continue to support the company's growth in the future, and allow it to remain in the Chicago area,” he said. “I am confident I have found the best fit for the company and our employees in Synergy.”

The acquisition of Sethness Greenleaf follows Synergy's acquisition of Sensus, which was completed on September 21 and announced separately.

Synergy Flavors is a part of Ireland-based Carbery Group, an international food ingredients and cheese company. Synergy creates flavors in a full range of natural, artificial, organic, and suitable for organic flavors for food and beverage manufacturers worldwide.
