Autopsy set for Tuesday in death of Vernon Hills teen

Vernon Hills Police are still investigating the suspicious death of a 15-year-old girl.

Officials said an autopsy for the teen, who died Saturday, will be delayed until Tuesday because of the Columbus Day holiday.

They refused to release the name of the girl until the cause of death is determined.

She was pronounced dead at 11:39 a.m. Saturday at Advocate Condell Medical Center in Libertyville, Coroner Artis Yancy said.

Yancey and police would not release a preliminary cause of death, and hope the autopsy could help shed light on what happened.

Vernon Hills police confirmed Sunday a death investigation is under way, but declined further comment.

According to numerous sources, the girl was a student at Vernon Hills High School.
