Daniel Carcillo vs. Adam Burish will have to wait
DALLAS — The chance to see agitators Daniel Carcillo and Adam Burish go head-to-head will have to wait until the the Blackhawks and Stars meet again in February.
With Carcillo suspended for the Hawks’ first two games because of an infraction he committed in the playoffs, Burish wouldn’t have had a dance partner anyway if he could have played in Friday’s season opener.
Burish missed Friday’s game with a groin injury but was hoping to return on Saturday for the rematch with the Hawks at the United Center.
Carcillo, however, can’t play until Thursday against Winnipeg.
“To be honest, I really don’t care,” Burish said Friday. “The fans will love him there, I’m sure. The fans will like watching his act. Hopefully his teammates can handle it if he’s going to be in the box a few times.
“The way the league goes you need guys like that. You need guys that are going to be nasty and mean and if they cross the line a few times, fine. I think most guys can deal with that as long as you’re holding other guys accountable, you’re being hard to play against, you’re kind of being a (jerk) out there. Your teammates will respect that.”
Burish always has a lot to say and seldom passes up the chance to verbally jab pals Patrick Sharp and Patrick Kane.
“It’s just the groin,” Burish said of his injury. “I’m going to take one more day and then I’ll be ready to rock (Saturday).
“I could take on Kane with one groin, no problem. I think just trying to hold down that big horse (Marian) Hossa would be a little tougher. But I could take Kane and Sharp with one groin. I’m gonna rest up and embarrass them in their own building tomorrow.”
Burish did turn serious when talking about Kane’s move from right wing to center.
“He’ll be good, though,” Burish said. “The thing that he’ll be good at is just the way he skates. He can skate so good, and on the wing you’ve got to stop and start a little bit, where now he’ll able to do those big loops and those circles and go back and take it off Duncan Keith’s stick and skate all the way up the ice. It’ll be a fun way to watch him play.”
