Prospect grads vie for News Story of the Year
Two June 2011 Prospect High School graduates will find out in November where they place in the “News Story of the Year” competition, as determined by the National Scholastic Press Association.
Prospect alums and former staff writers for the The Prospector, Gina O’Neill (now at DePaul University) and Megan Maughan (now at Indiana University), were honored for their story, “Suicide Too Serious for Silence,” as one of the top five news stories in the nation last year.
According to Prospector adviser and journalism teacher Jason Block, “We will find out at the Journalism Education Association/NSPA Journalism Convention in November in Minneapolis which place in the top five they will take.”
