Dist. 214 Honors Orchestra plays Nov. 13

Many of the most talented musicians in the six schools of District 214 will perform in concert on Sunday, Nov. 13, at 3 p.m. in Buffalo Grove High School’s theater, as the District 214 Honors Orchestra takes the stage with director Patrick O’Connor at the podium. The students in this top-notch orchestra are selected by rigorous audition and make an impressive commitment, devoting one evening a week to lengthy rehearsals.

The audience will be treated to an outstanding performance of the following featured works: Pyotr Ilyich Tchaikovsky’s Symphony No. 5 in E Minor, and Richard Wagner’s Die Meistersinger von Nürnberg Overture.

There is no admission charge for this professional quality concert. A freewill donation will be accepted at the door. The donations will go to benefit the Annual Honors Orchestra Scholarship, awarded to one senior member of the orchestra who plans to continue on in music at the college level.

For those who like to plan ahead, the District 214 Honors Music Festival concert, which will also showcase the Honors Orchestra among other outstanding ensembles, will take place at Forest View Educational Center in Arlington Heights on Thursday, March 8, at 7:30 p.m. For more information, call (847) 718-5435.
