Day of play in Vernon Hills:
Worldwide Day of Play is a free, family event encouraging families to get outdoors. In Vernon Hills, the event is 11 a.m. to 1 p.m. Saturday, Sept. 24 at Deerpath Park, near the Warrington Road entrance. Structured and unstructured activities will be available for all ages including a baggo tournament, moonwalk, sand volleyball, basketball contests, sack races, egg toss, hoola hoop contests and more. To accommodate all of the families, register with the Vernon Hills Park District at (847) 996-6800. In the event of inclement weather, the event will be canceled.
