Clothes dryer sparks Glendale Heights fire

A clothes dryer sparked a Thursday afternoon fire at a single-family home in Glendale Heights, authorities said.

After neighbors reported smoke coming from the house on the 0 to 100 block of Opal Avenue at 1:24 p.m., crews responded and were able to contain the blaze to the interior of the house, according to Deputy Police Chief Tom Bialas of the Glendale Heights Police Department.

No one was home at the time of the fire, and no injuries were reported. The house sustained fire and smoke damage.

Crews from the Glenside Fire Protection District were assisted by fire departments from Addison, Bloomingdale, Carol Stream, West Chicago and Wheaton.
