Citywide recycling event set for Oct. 1
West Chicago, Illinois: September 19, 2011 - West Chicago currently has one of the most inclusive weekly household recyclable collection programs in DuPage County, however, many recyclable items cannot be economically collected as part of this program and are placed in trash bins throughout the city every week and transported to landfills.
In an effort to reduce the amount of recyclable material being sent to landfills and increase the recycling rate in West Chicago, the Environmental Commission will be sponsoring a Citywide Recycling Event on Saturday, Oct. 1, at Sims Recycling Solutions parking lot, 1600 Harvester Road, West Chicago.
To staff the event, the Environmental Commission has invited a number of for-profit businesses and nonprofit groups/organizations to the Sims Recycling Solutions parking lot for the one day collection event. The event will be open to the public from 9 a.m. to 2 p.m.
Participating organizations (confirmed as of Sept. 9, 2011):
