Nearly ‘Mr. Irrelevant,’ Redskins’ Neild has 2 sacks
ASHBURN, Va. — Chris Neild laughs and says he has “a lot to live up to” this week as he prepares for his second NFL game.
Certainly it’ll be hard for the Washington Redskins rookie to top what he did in his first one.
The nose tackle from West Virginia University was the next-to-last overall pick in the draft in April. Not only did he make the team, he had two sacks on Sunday in the win over the New York Giants.
Now everyone wants to know about Neild, who has a shaved head and a reddish-brown busy beard. His nickname is “Truck” — which he’s had since the sixth grade.
He says when he used to play basketball, he would foul out with lots of charging calls.
Washington hosts Arizona on Sunday.
