Wheeling Orchesis members volunteer at Dance for Life

Wheeling High School Orchesis members served as volunteer production assistants for the 18th year this past summer at Chicago's Dance for Life, whose mission is to raise awareness and funds for HIV/AIDS prevention and care while promoting the art of dance in Chicago.

The Wheeling High School dancers distributed posters in areas of the city, assisted in ticket distribution at the Aids Foundation of Chicago office and volunteered at the Auditorium Theatre for the 20th anniversary performance Aug. 20.

Sporting T-shirts from the 20-year history of the event, dancers appeared onstage with WGN radio personality, movie critic and annual host Dean Richards. More than 3,000 people were in attendance at Dance for Life, where more than $300,000 was raised.

Wheeling Orchesis, sponsored by adviser Diane Rawlinson, will once again host the 18th Dance for Life's Next Generation at Wheeling High School March 4, 2012.
