Blackhawks add Toews’ younger brother

If you’re the Blackhawks, why not pick up another Toews? The first one has worked out pretty well.

The Hawks acquired forward David Toews, Jonathan’s younger brother, from the New York Islanders on Friday in exchange for future considerations.

Toews was then added to the Hawks’ roster for the 2011 Toronto Maple Leafs rookie tournament, which takes place this weekend.

David Toews, 21, had 20 goals and 28 assists in 60 games with the Brandon Wheat Kings of the Western Hockey League last season.

Toews was the Islanders’ third-round draft pick (66th overall) in 2008, and spent two seasons at the University of North Dakota, where his brother also played.
