Vernon Hills edges Libertyvile

Every stroke counted for the Libertyville and Vernon Hills boys golf teams Wednesday.

Led by Eric Swanson’s 38, Vernon Hills carded a 160 to edge the Wildcats by 1 shot.

Libertyville boasted medalist Alex Quenan, who fired an even-par 36 at White Deer Run in Vernon Hills.

The victorious Cougars also counted 40s from Jake Zoll and Alex Leigeber and James Roussel’s 42.

Libertyville received a 41 from Billy Knutson. Three Wildcats — Mike Mudd, Andrew Ross and Peter Henderson — shot a 42.

Zion-Benton d. Grant: At Antioch Golf Club, the Zee-Bees (157) were led by co-medalists Keith Torola and Justin Schwab with 36s.

Grant (174) got a 40 from Tommy Gross.
