Missing Naperville teen found safe at McDonalds

Naperville police say they have found 16-year-old Chris Carpenter and expect to reunite him with his family Tuesday evening.

Carpenter was reported missing Aug. 22 after he failed to attend class at Naperville Central High School and his family believed he may have fled to Colorado. His parents have been in the Denver area since the weekend and are believed to be on their way back to Naperville.

Naperville Police Sgt. Gregg Bell said the teen did, indeed, take a bus to and from the Denver metropolitan area and arrived back in Naperville sometime over the weekend.

Police said a patron at the McDonald’s at River Street and Ogden Avenue recognized Chris around 12:30 p.m. Tuesday and called police.

Bell said officers responded and Christopher willingly went with them to the Naperville Police Department.
