Libertyville residents score titles at '2-club Challenge' golf tournament

LIBERTYVILLE, IL (August 29, 2011)

The first-ever Libertyville Golf Course “2-Club Challenge” Golf Tournament had Libertyville residents claiming first place finishes in the Youth, Adult and Senior Divisions. In this unique tournament format, participants were only able to use two clubs (their choice) and a putter over the 9-hole, Par 3 layout.

In the Youth Division (under 18) Libertyville's Tad Carlson won 1st Place shooting a 34 using a 7-iron and a Wedge. Second Place finisher was Jeffry Zheng of Long Grove carding a 46 using a 5-iron and a Sand Wedge, while Brandon Murphy (Driver and a Wedge) and Adam Nostrand (Hybrid and a 9-iron), both from Libertyville, finished in 3rd Place shooting a 48.

In the Adult Division, Kent Carlson of Libertyville shot a tournament best 32 using a 6-iron and a Wedge to win 1st place. Sam Greenberg of Libertyville came in second with a 47 using a 8-iron and a Wedge. The Libertyville Carlson family therefore had two champions with Kent winning the Adult Division and his son, Tad, winning the Youth Division.

There was a tie for 1st Place in the Men's Seniors (55+) Division. Jim Huskey of Libertyville shot a 34 using a 7-iron and Wedge and Libertyville's Larry Stuart also shot a 34 using a 7-iron and a Wedge. Finishing in 2nd place was Dan Dalziel of Libertyville who shot a 35 using a 9-iron and a Wedge, with Libertyville's Gary Holland finished in 3rd Place scoring a 36 using a 5-iron and a 7-iron. Tying for 4th Place were Rick Cromie (5-iron and 8-iron) and Scott Phillips (6-iron and Wedge) both of Libertyville shooting 38.

In the Women's Seniors (55+) Division Judy Stuart of Libertyville earned 1st Place shooting a 43 using a 5-iron and an 8-iron. Judy joined husband Larry as a 1st place Seniors winner.

The only two birdies recorded in the competition were in the Men's Senior Division with Libertyville's Rick Cromie carding a birdie on hole number 3, and Larry Stuart scoring a birdie 2 on hole number 2.
