Easing the sting in summer of turmoil

Mosquitoes personify aggravation this summer. Some remind me of Snoopy in his World War II bomber taking aim. But things could be worse. For our family this is a season of son, who lives in the U.K., discussing how and where London is burning.

(Loved the Opinion Page cartoon saying Beijing 2008. We see an Olympian running with a torch. Then, London 2011. We see a youth in a hoodie running with another kind of torch. He is followed by a hail of bullets.)

Then coming to my mail box are essays by a friend in downstate Alexander County journalizing the progress as she, in her 80s, restores the devastation the raging rivers did to her home. Therefore, how should we dress this summer of trials? The dress should be multi colored, no pastels but of vivid hues, graphic, original, to picture the dangerous essence of this point in time.

And prayer is needed for cessation of turmoil around the globe. Pray that sufficient water will be poured on London to put out the flames? Pray that rain going into the rivers will be withstood? If we trust God, our pathfinder, like (Job 42:12) we may see future glorious happiness and prosperity. After all, God does not owe us an explanation.

But while we wait on his favor, it would be nice to have another dosing by the mosquito abatement truck around and about town.
