Vista names new chief nursing officer

Vista Health System recently introduced Rose Speights, RN, as its Chief Nursing Officer. Speights oversees all nursing activities at Vista Medical Center East and Vista Medical Center West both in Waukegan, as well as at the Vista Surgery Center and Vista Freestanding Emergency Center located at Vista's campus in Lindenhurst.

“Rose is an outstanding addition to our leadership team at Vista and exemplifies the high quality of professionals who are responsible for the care of our patients,” said Barbara Martin, President and CEO of Vista Health System. “Rose's extensive background in leadership and clinical nursing will be a great asset to Vista as we continue to expand our health system. She is a proven nurse leader who is dedicated to excellence in all areas of medicine.”

Speights has more than 20 years of nursing experience and joins Vista from NorthShore University Health System in Evanston. During her 11-year career at NorthShore, she worked her way up from Nurse Manager to her most recent position as Senior Director of Nursing. She earned both a bachelor's degree (BSN) and master's degree in nursing (MSN) from Loyola University of New Orleans, as well as a Master's of Science in Administration (MSA) from the University of Notre Dame in Indiana.

“Providing competent and compassionate care is the foundation of nursing,” Speights said. “The nurse's role is pivotal to the quality of care provided. I am happy to be part of a team that values the contribution of its nurses.”
