Bloomingdale woman dies in charity motorcycle run

A 73-year-old Bloomingdale woman died Sunday after a crash in rural Kane County during a charity motorcycle event, authorities said.

Kathleen T. Skimerhorn, of the 200 block of Willow Lane, was killed after her 1996 Harley-Davidson motorcycle left the pavement during a turn while heading east Beith Road in unincorporated Virgil Township around 2:20 p.m., the Kane County Sheriff’s Department said.

Skimerhorn was taken to Delnor Hospital in Geneva and pronounced dead. An autopsy is scheduled for Tuesday, authorities said.

She was part of a group of about 100 motorcyclists that were riding in the Friends of Mike Thomas charity poker run.
