New playground at Mades-Johnstone Center

A new playground will be dedicated on Wednesday, Aug. 24, for students who attend the New Directions Program at Mades-Johnstone Center, 1304 Ronzheimer Ave. in St. Charles.

The New Directions Program is one of the programs administered by Mid-Valley Special Education Cooperative. The program serves students from Geneva D304, St. Charles D303, Batavia D101, Kaneland D302 and Central D301.

The equipment was donated by Geneva School District from Coultrap Elementary School which is no longer used for students. The installation of the equipment was funded by ARRA grants for students with special needs.

The students do not know about this exciting installation and will be surprised with a ribbon-cutting ceremony at 8:30 a.m. Wednesday, Aug. 24, the first day of school!
