Police report success in roadway safety campaign
The West Chicago Police Department announced that Campaign #7 of the Illinois Department of Transportation funded grant was successful in educating the motoring public on child restraint, seatbelt, speeding, and alcohol related violations.
The Campaign ran from June 17, 2011 – July 4, 2011 and resulted in 198 citations being issued; 37 for seatbelt and child restraint violations.
Campaign #7 was the seventh of eight overall campaigns funded by the grant which runs through September 30, 2011. This grant provides sworn police officers funding for additional hours dedicated to traffic enforcement for child restraint, seatbelt, speeding, and alcohol related violations.
Campaign # 8 will begin on August 19, 2011 and run through September 5, 2011. A continuing effort will be made citywide to make roadways safer by enforcing these violations and educating the public.
