Kids’ activity explores wildlife at Barrington area creek

Citizens for Conservation will present “Up a Creek with CFC,” a No Child Left Inside class, from 1 to 5 p.m. on Saturday, Aug. 20. Join in a fun-filled afternoon with Tom Vanderpoel. The class is open to children ages 6 and older, though caregivers are required to attend. The cost is $5 per child; families with multiple children pay $5 for the first child and $1 for each additional child. Meet at CFC headquarters: 459 W. Highway 22 in Lake Barrington — the white farmhouse with a silo across from Advocate Good Shepherd Hospital. The group will drive to a local site and use seining nets to see the wildlife in the water. Dress for the weather and muddy conditions. Apply sun block or insect spray at home and bring your own water. Completed registration forms are due Aug. 13. Forms can be found at citizensforconservation.org. Call (847) 382-7283 with questions.
