I-88 crash victims identified as Elmhurst residents

Police on Sunday were investigating an accident on I-88 that left two people dead and two others seriously injured.

Illinois State Police Master Sgt. Carlita Joe says the accident happened around 6:30 p.m. Saturday.

Joe says a 2006 Porsche was going the wrong way on a highway near Lisle when it hit a 2004 Toyota Corolla head-on. Both passengers in the Toyota died.

The Chicago Tribune reports the occupants of the Toyota were believed to relatives. The DuPage County coroner’s office identified the deceased as Elmhurst residents, 37-year-old Farzana Ali and 74-year-old Sherali Shalwani.

The two others hospitalized were the driver of the Porsche, a 43-year-old Naperville man, and the driver of the Toyota, a 42-year-old man.

Police say other vehicles were involved but no one in those vehicles was injured.
