Residents asked to report flooding problems

The Village of Mount Prospect is asking residents who experienced flooding as a result of the record-setting July 23rd rainfall, to call Public Works at 847.870.5640 to report their experience. Public Works staff is trying to collect information to better understand who flooded and why.

If residents have already called Public Works about flooding, or have filled out the Cook County Flood Damage Assessment Form, we already have a record of the situation. It is not necessary to call again. However, we may be contacting them in the near future to ask some additional questions or schedule an appointment to visit their homes.

For more information, see the web site, mountprospect.org.

Special Flood Related Building Permit Information:

As a result of the July 23rd storm event, the Village will waive basic building permit fees associated with residential basement and/or first floor damage repairs. This waiver can save homeowners several hundred dollars, depending on the nature and scope of the repairs. Proof of flood related damage is required.

The permit fee waiver will not apply to upgrades/improvements beyond the scope of repair. Permit must be applied for on or before October 31, 2011 to be eligible to receive the waiver. For more details regarding the waiver program, go to mountprospect.org or call 847/870-5675.
