Register now for Wheeling Parks' fall youth soccer

Registration is being accepted for the Wheeling Park District Fall Youth Soccer program through Monday, August 1, for those in grades K-4, and Monday, August 15, for those in grades 5-8.

The program, in cooperation with Prospect Heights Park District, is designed to promote skill development, sportsmanship, and teamwork while allowing kids from four years of age through grade eight to enjoy the game.

Teams are formed by Park District staff and are based on volunteer coaches, school locations, and mutual friendship requests. Friendship requests can be submitted for those in grades K-2.

An effort also is made to keep the same team from fall to spring season. Five coed Divisions are offered and include Kindergarten, Grades 1-2, Grades 3-4, Grades 5-6, and Grades 7-8.

The divisions for Kindergarteners through Grade 4 practice once a week for one hour and play games on Saturday afternoons at Heritage Park in Wheeling from August 20 through October 22.

Practices for the two divisions for grades 5-8 are held twice a week for one hour depending on the availability of the coaches. Divisions for grades 5-8 play on Sunday afternoons from September 11 through October 30.

League uniforms are required for all players and can be purchased at the Guest Service Desk at the Community Recreation Center for $18. Players who already have the full uniform do not need to purchase a new one.

A parent meeting will be held on Thursday, August 4, from 7 p.m. to 8 p.m., at the CRC.

Register online at www.wheelingparkdistrict.com or at the Guest Service Desk at the CRC. For more information, contact Ryan McCalley at (847) 465-2941.
