Food, carnival rides and games, music and animals arrived at the Lake County Fairgrounds in Grayslake on Monday as the final preparations were put in place for the 2011 edition of the county fair.
The 83rd annual Lake County Fair runs Tuesday through Sunday in its third year at the new fairgrounds site on Peterson Road.
Organizers are hopeful last week’s oppressive heat and the weekend rains are a not-so-distant memory to replaced by more comfortable weather conditions and big crowds.
To the south, officials are also looking forward to a big turnout at the DuPage County Fair, which opens Wednesday and runs through the weekend.
