Hanover Twp. collecting school supplies for needy kids

Once again, Hanover Township is asking the community for donations of school supplies and backpacks for youth returning to school in the fall. Last year, over 700 backpacks filled with supplies were given to community youth.

Most needed items include backpacks, notebooks, loose-leaf paper, pencils, markers, crayons, scissors, flash drives, blue pens and glue sticks. Gift certificates for school uniforms at Walmart, Target or Kohl’s will also be accepted.

Supplies can be dropped of at township offices, 250 S. Route 59 in Bartlett or the Hanover Township Astor Avenue Community Center, 7431 Astor Ave., in Hanover Park.

Starting Aug. 15, backpacks will be distributed from the Astor Avenue Community Center and other locations throughout the township.

For information or questions regarding a donation, please contact the Astor Avenue Community Center at (630) 540-9085.
