Pay increases in Vernon Hills

Raises for two top staffers in Vernon Hills were approved Tuesday by the village board. David Brown was promoted from village engineer to village engineer/public works director in May 2010, but his salary had not changed. It will be increased from $107,732 to $113,119. The salary range for the new position will be changed to $118,258 to $130,706. Also, Deputy Police Chief Jon Petrillo will get an increase from $113,863 to $115,865, which is the top of the salary range for the deputy chief position. He has served as deputy chief of administration since February 2006. The raises are effective Aug. 1.
