Mount Prospect offers free wood chips
Mount Prospect added about 80 yards of tub-ground wood chips, free for the taking, to the pile at Melas Park, 1326 W. Central Road, on Monday.
The village regularly supplies a small amount of wood chips, typically available further back in the park. However, due to high number of trees downed by recent storms, a large amount of wood chips have been placed near the front parking lot.
No one from the village will be there to help load the wood chips. Residents can take as much as they want and are expected to bring their own shovels and containers, said Julie Bolin, account secretary for the village.
