Let’s crack down on texting while driving
If the Village of Schaumburg wants to make a lot of money and fast, they should start posting police officers along the north end of Meacham Road. As someone who drives this stretch every day, I see countless people looking down at their phones, texting.
If the village started citing people for this violation, they would make a lot of money in fines quickly, plus help make the roads safer for others that don’t engage in this reckless behavior.
The whole “Click It Or Ticket” campaign may be the police department’s focus throughout the state, but texting while driving is far more dangerous to others on the road than someone who doesn’t wear their seat belt.
