Vernon Hills High teacher honored:

Vernon Hills High School teacher Jay Walgren was among 22 teachers in Illinois honored for outstanding achievement in their field for the 2010-11 school year. The teachers, chosen by their respective professional education associations, were honored Thursday at the first Exemplary Teacher Recognition Award luncheon in Springfield. The teachers were honored for excellence in the classroom. Walgren was named an outstanding high school physics teachers by the Illinois Section of the American Association of Physics Teachers.
