NAVIGATE15: Final Recommendations--Final session will produce a report to the Board

The District's seventh and final Navigate15 community engagement session will be held Tuesday, June 21, from 7–9 p.m. in the cafeteria at Winston Campus, 900 E. Palatine Road in Palatine.

During this meeting, participants will begin creating an executive summary of the six previous community engagement sessions for the Board. Those sessions examined issues related to curriculum, demographics, technology, facilities, and finances. While all are welcome to attend this meeting, those who have been a part of any of the previous six sessions are particularly encouraged to participate in the final session.

More than 50 residents, parents, and staff members participated in the last Navigate15 community engagement session—a May 31 meeting that focused on the District's finances. During the meeting, Michael Adamczyk, the District's assistant superintendent for business and auxiliary services, delivered a PowerPoint presentation titled “School Finances 101 and Planning for the Future.”

Following his presentation, meeting participants took part in a panel Q&A discussion with Mr. Adamczyk, Dr. Thomas Kersten, professor of educational leadership at Roosevelt University in Chicago, and Rob Grossi, a financial consultant for the Illinois State Board of Education.

The goal of Navigate15 has been to make parents, residents, and business leaders part of the process of determining the future of the District by opening the lines of communication between the District and the communities it serves. The previous six Navigate15 meetings were intended to provide the community the information it needs to make recommendations to the District 15 Board of Education regarding a comprehensive plan for improving the performance of the District. Those recommendations will be presented to the Board in August.
