Teacher talks in Mount Prospect District 57 continue

Mount Prospect Elementary District 57 and its teachers union are continuing negotiations on a new labor contract after meeting with a federal mediator on Monday.

Public Relations chair for the Mount Prospect Education Association Jenna Hermanson and former District 57 President Joe Leane, who is still on the negotiations team, declined to comment on the talks. Both parties agreed to negotiate confidentially in accordance with a request from the federal mediator, Hermanson said.

Leane did say, however, that the meeting was productive and that additional meetings have been scheduled, the next one being in July.

The current contract will expire on June 30. The district and the Mount Prospect Education Association have met 23 times since opening talks on Sept. 13.
