Bloomingdale pool repairs finish early

Bloomingdale’s Oasis Water Park will open its shuttered zero-depth entry pool Friday, two days ahead of the date repairs were expected to be finished.

The pool was set to open Sunday, one week behind the rest of the water park, after workers discovered a pipe leak that demanded repair. But quick work done through Memorial Day weekend and beyond moved the project ahead of schedule.

“The chemicals are balanced and the water is warmed up, and now we can’t wait to see people in that pool again,” said Carrie Haupert, Bloomingdale Park District executive director.

Many Bloomingdale season pass holders had been using Roselle Park District’s Kemmerling Pool for free while the work was being done, but that privilege ends Friday.

The leak required staff members to drill into concrete in four places around the pool, make repairs, pour fresh concrete and repaint, Haupert said. The project cost the park district about $4,200.

Haupert said staff members suspect the crack occurred during the winter freeze-thaw cycle.
