Public input needed for Community Park iprovements
Addison Park District has great plans to modernize and enhance the outdoor athletic features of Community Park. The Addison Park District would be able to make these improvements with the aid of a 50/50 matching grant provided by the state of Illinois's Open Space Lands Acquisition and Development (OSLAD) program.
The Addison Park District Board of Commissioners would like input from Addison residents about potential improvements for Community Park. This meeting will be on Tuesday, June 21 starting at 6:30 p.m. at Community Recreation Center, 120 E. Oak Street in Addison.
Renovation plans for Addison's Community Park included features such as baseball field and football field improvements including better drainage and water management, the installation of safety fencing around backstops and between baseball fields, overlay inclusive of soccer field s and practice football field, energy efficient lighting, the modernization of playground equipment to become compliant with the Americans with Disabilities Act, expanding and improving the walking path, sand volleyball courts, picnic shelter and other potential features.
The OSLAD grant is a benefit available to local government agencies including park districts through the Illinois Department of Natural Resources (IDNR). These funds are generated by non-General Revenue Fund (non-GFR) dollars dedicated through the state's Real Estate Transfer Tax.
