Your news Woman’s Club awards scholarships

At its May meeting, the Mount Prospect Woman’s Club presented scholarships for $1,000 each to three students who are residents of Mount Prospect and 2011 graduates of area high schools.

The scholarship recipients are:

Mary Rose Styzek, a Prospect High School senior, has been accepted at the University of Illinois at Urbana-Champaign and plans to pursue a career in business and finance.

She has participated in numerous extracurricular activities and has received several awards, including the Knightship Award for cross country.

Philip Benson, a Prospect High School senior, will also attend the University of Illinois at Urbana-Champaign, majoring in physical chemistry and research.

He has also been a member of the marching, concert and symphony bands, as well as numerous clubs.

Nicola Blair, a senior at John Hersey High School, will attend DePaul University to study psychology.

She has been a speech team member, receiving a writing award, and also volunteers in several capacities.

The Mount Prospect Woman’s Club congratulates these three outstanding students.
