Golfers take a swing at domestic violence

Avid golfers and duffers alike are invited to enjoy a round of golf in support of A Safe Place at the domestic violence organization’s ninth annual golf outing.

The event is scheduled for Thursday, June 16, at White Deer Run Golf Club in Vernon Hills.

“The outing features lunch, golf and dinner at one of Lake County’s premiere courses to support the leading advocate for eliminating domestic violence in northern Illinois,” said Bob Doyle, co-chairman of the golf outing and past president of A Safe Place’s board of directors.

“We are proud to have so many people from the community take a stand against domestic abuse and show their support at this event,” he added. “This event brings much-needed attention to this often-hidden crime and the victims who suffer in silence.

“A Safe Place gives victims hope for a safer future,” Boyle added.

Proceeds from the event will support the counseling, shelter, housing and advocacy programs of A Safe Place, Lake County’s only organization exclusively dedicated to serving victims of domestic violence.

The 18-hole event begins with lunch at 11 a.m., followed by the round of golf with special contests, prizes and gifts. Golf will be followed by cocktails and dinner.

Registration is limited and will be taken on a first-received, first-served basis. The registration fee is $300 per golfer or $1,000 per foursome and includes a buffet lunch, 18 holes of premiere golf with cart, dinner/open bar, prizes and gifts.

Attendance at the dinner only is also available for $75.

Make checks payable to A Safe Place, 2710 17th St., Zion, IL 60099; charge your reservation online; or call the development department at (847) 731-7165 x109.
