North Aurora police release photos of robbery suspect

North Aurora police Wednesday released pictures from a surveillance video of a suspect wanted in Monday night’s robbery of the Dollar General store.

Police are seeking a single suspect in the robbery of the store at 190 Butterfield Road. An unspecified amount of cash was taken.

Monday was the second time the store has been robbed in less than three months. In early April, two men robbed clerks of more than $300, police said.

No one was harmed in Monday’s robbery. A man described by police as a husky black mail about 5 feet 8 inches tall, entered the store at 8:51 p.m., pointed a black handgun at two employees and demanded cash.

The suspect fled the scene on foot going north toward Butterfield Road, Cmdr. Scott Buziecki said.

“If he had a vehicle, no one saw it,” he said.

The man was wearing black sweatpants, a gray pullover hoodie with an Air Jordan logo on the front, and a face covering.

Investigators are seeking the public’s help in identifying the offender. Call the North Aurora Police Department Investigations Division at (630) 897-8705 with information.

People can also call Aurora Area Crime Stoppers at (630) 892-1000. Callers remain anonymous and can earn a cash reward for their information.
