Collision with deer injures Palatine man
A 26-year-old Palatine man was hospitalized Wednesday night after striking a deer while riding his motorcycle near the border of Palatine and Schaumburg, according to fire officials.
The driver was headed north on Roselle Road just north of Central Road when a deer ran onto the road from the east, said Schaumburg Fire Department Battalion Chief Michael Diaferia.
The motorcyclist struck the deer and was thrown into the ditch, along with the deer, Diaferia said.
The man was rushed to Northwest Community Hospital with nonlife-threatening injuries and appeared to be in good condition, according to fire officials. Early reports indicated the motorcyclist suffered severe scrapes.
Diaferia said the man was driving a small to mid-size motorcycle without a helmet on when he struck the deer.
Cook County sheriff's police and Schaumburg police were investigating the crash.
