Traditional Irish Hooley this weekend in Palatine
"Hooley" in Irish translates to a celebration with music and dance.
The McNulty School of Irish Dance and Illinois Celtic Arts invite the public to celebrate this great Irish tradition on Saturday, June 11 at Durty Nellies Pub, 180 N. Smith St. in Palatine. Dancers will perform from 5:30 to 7:15 p.m. Live music will be 7:30 to 10 p.m.
The Hooley will feature live music by Finbarr Fagan & Paddy Go Easy, performances by the McNulty Irish Dancers, raffle prizes, and a Split the Pot Baggo tournament. Proceeds from the Hooley will support the continuation and preservation of the Irish heritage.
Tickets are $10 and include food and drink specials and live music and dance entertainment. Tickets can be purchased by e-mailing mcnultydancers@aol.com.
The McNulty School of Irish Dance celebrated its 40th anniversary this year.
Founded in 1971 by Barbara McNulty T.C.R.G., the McNulty School of Irish Dance has grown to become one of the most active schools in the Midwest, with classes in more than 15 locations across Chicagoland, Bloomington, and Rockford, Ill., as well classes in Wisconsin and Iowa. The McNulty School of Irish Dance seeks to preserve the rich traditions of Irish music and dance by celebrating them now and passing them down for future generations.
