Mt. Prospect park staff rescues Memorial Day ceremony

It is important to recognize exceptional performance when it happens. If it hadn’t been for the efforts of Walt Cook and his capable engineering staff, the Memorial Day ceremony at Lions Park on Monday morning would have been a complete wash out.

Mr. Cook’s team spent many hours Sunday evening and into the night running pumps to insure that the new “lake” and “swamp” in front of the Veterans Memorial band shell was drained and ceremony would go on as scheduled.

When the ceremony began at about 10:30 Monday morning, the terrain was prepared and ready for the approximately 1,000 people who attended. Disaster averted!

Thanks again to Mr. Walt Cook and the staff of the Mt. Prospect Park District. They care and we noticed!
