Vernon Hills apartment fire

No one was injured in a fire in the 0 to 100 block of Cedar Court of Vernon Hills, officials said. Firefighters were called to the apartment complex at 6:22 p.m. Monday, for a fire in the kitchen of one of the 12 apartment units. Crews were able to snuff out the fire in the kitchen of the first floor apartment quickly after it was determined a sprinkler system in the structure had put out a large portion of the fire. The fire was contained to an area around the microwave and ruled accidental. All occupants were able to return to their apartments and fire damage was deemed minimal. Countryside Fire Protection was assisted by fire fighters from Mundelein, Libertyville and Lincolnshire Riverwoods.
