Mt. Prospect/Prospect Hts. Relay nets $100,000

Thanks to everyone who help make the recent 2011 Relay For Life of Mount Prospect/Prospect Heights a smashing success, as the event raised over $100,000 for the American Cancer Society’s fight against cancer. Hundreds of Prospect High School students, staff and community members turned out for the 12-hour relay on Friday, May 20, and Saturday, May 21.

Highlights included inspirational speeches by mayors Nick Helmer and Irvana Wilks of Prospect Heights and Mount Prospect, respectively, cancer survivors Steve DeLuca and Lara Kowalski, the survivor laps, and the Luminaria and Fight Back ceremonies.

Entertainment was provided by Jazzercise, the Wize Guys, and Prospect’s One Stop and Orchesis. A huge thanks goes out to everyone who helped organize and participate in the event. It was truly a memorable experience.
