Jobs for IRS agents a stroke of genius

Regarding Mary Warren’s Fence Post “GOP abortion stance won’t help economy”: Isn’t life more important than the economy? Even die-hard liberals must understand that many consider abortion murder, a violent assault on a woman’s body and the death of an unborn child.

Liberals are free to maintain their own philosophy. However, since there are two radically conflicting views, the one should not have the right to force the other to fund what is considered unethical and immoral. Imagine that legislation were proposed and passed by our government that allowed for the unrestricted harvesting of whales. I would consider this behavior highly offensive. To make matters worse, I would be forced through the tax code and the IRS to indirectly support this industry, the argument being that it helped the fragile economy by creating new jobs for fishermen. Even though I am sensitive to the need for jobs, I would consider the long-term damage to the environment to outweigh the temporary boost in the economy. It does not mean I don’t care about jobs.

Similarly, the suggestion that Republicans don’t care about job creation, home foreclosures or the economy is not really the issue with regard to abortion. Support for the abortion industry does not translate into any stability for our our “fragile economy.” As for “giving the already understaffed IRS agents additional duties that have nothing to do with collecting taxes,” this seems like a stroke of genius. In fact, I’d like to find even more jobs for IRS agents to do like protecting our southern border. (And this would save us a lot more than $300 billion).

The suggestion that “the best way to reduce the number of abortions in the U.S. is to improve the economy” is ludicrous. The two are unrelated.
