Roof repairs lead to Wheaton fire

A fire at a Wheaton business Friday was sparked by repair work being done to the building’s roof, authorities said.

The blaze at Circuitronics LLC, 201 N. Gables Blvd., broke out about 6:20 p.m. as crews were working, according to shift Cmdr. Dwight Becker of the Wheaton Fire Department.

There were still a few employees in the building at the time, and they evacuated without injury, he said.

The fire was extinguished in about 20 minutes, and damage was contained to the roof. It did not spread to the side of the building occupied by TouchSensor Technologies.

Becker said the fire appeared to be accidental.
