Boys volleyball/Fox Valley roundup

Sean Sexton had 11 kills and Nick Pawlowski dished out 23 assists as the South Elgin boys volleyball team defeated Wheaton North 25-20, 25-22 Monday in the opening round of the South Elgin regional.

The Storm (11-17) will take on Addison Trail in tonight’s semifinals.

Jake Mendel and Matt Gill had 6 kills each for the Storm Monday, while Nick Broches had 10 digs.

Hoffman Estates d. Elgin: Zayya Oshana had 20 kills and Angel Hernandez 11 assists but Elgin fell short, 25-22, 22-25, 25-22, in the opening round of the Conant regional. Max Colima added 5 kills for the Maroons.

St. Charles North d. Larkin: Stephen Dominguez led Larkin with 8 kills, 7 digs and 3 aces in a 25-22, 26-24 loss to St. Charles North at the North regional. Matt Harrison (16 assists, 3 blocks), Mike Flowers (6 kills, 3 blocks) and Acadian Mahoney (6 kills, 4 blocks) also contributed for the Royals.
