Authority on Wooster Lake issues questioned

The village of Round Lake officials recently spent taxpayer resources to generate and distribute a questionnaire to some owners of Wooster Lake and some residing near the lake. Village officials are also pledging to use further resources to facilitate a “meeting” regarding use/regulations of the lake.

A few interesting points: 1. None of Wooster’s private owners are Round Lake residents; 2. The only Round Lake residents close to Wooster reside in Silver Leaf Glen Subdivision; 3. This recent questionnaire from village officials is the first of its kind, and it’s coming nearly 5.5 years after village officials adopted and began purporting special regulations; 4. Wooster is privately owned by multiple owners; 5. Village of Fox Lake officials have stated they want nothing to do with special regulation of Wooster. 6. Round Lake officials have relied on a statute in conflict with the Municipal Code, which unambiguously stated municipalities are limited when it comes to zoning outside corporate borders; 7. Round Lake still continues to officially purport on its books that Wooster has special regulations and is a no-wake lake. 8. Some owners of the lake, including myself, to this day boat at speeds admittedly exceeding 5 mph and produce wake. Yet no ticket has dared been issued by the village (or any enforcement agency for that matter) for exceeding this purported 5 mph/no-wake ordinance

Village officials did not distribute the questionnaires to Round Lake residents. Why? Are they also not invited to this village-facilitated meeting soon to be held? Why do local officials continue with this posturing and expend even more taxpayer resources toward this unachievable, misleading, special agenda of regulating lake owners’ rights to boating? What’s in it for Round Lake residents when they have written they have no interest in special regulation?

Or should I be asking what’s in it for local politicians and their pals?
