Library board members sworn in
At the May 19th Mount Prospect Public Library board meeting, three trustees were sworn into office. Dale Draznin is beginning her third term, having been first elected to the board in 1999, and Dick Tani will be serving his second elected term following his original appointment to the board in 2004.
As part of the evening's proceedings, the library welcomed new trustee Brian Gilligan. Gilligan won the April 5 election for the seat being vacated by Jackie Hinaber, who retired from the library board after 24 years of dedicated service.
Gilligan, a longtime resident and professor at Morton College in Cicero, comes to the board with years of experience serving Mount Prospect's citizens, first with the Mount Prospect Youth Commission and most recently on the board of Community Consolidated School District 59.
“The library is jewel in our community. I am looking forward to working with my fellow board members to make some positive contributions to the library,” commented Gilligan.
Library board members are all volunteers who dedicate a great deal of time establishing library policies, setting the strategic vision, and assuring adequate funding of library services.
