Funeral services Wednesday for Prospect Heights truck driver killed in train crash

Funeral services for Kazimierz Karasek, 59, of Prospect Heights, who was killed May 13 when his cement truck collided with a Metra train in Mount Prospect, will be held 9 a.m. Wednesday, May 25, at Skaja Terrace Funeral Home, 7812 N. Milwaukee Ave., Niles.

Visitation will be from 4 to 9 p.m. Tuesday, May 24, at the funeral home.

Burial will be at St. Adalbert Catholic Cemetery Chapel, 6800 Milwaukee Ave., Niles, following the funeral.

Karasek, who grew up in Elblag, Poland, received a master’s degree from the University of Olsztyn in food processing engineering. In 1985, he immigrated to the United States and became established in the Chicago area. In 1989, he started his own trucking company.

Karasek is survived by his mother, Ludmila, of Poland; his wife, Zofia; sons Tomasz, Wojtek, and Konrad; and three grandchildren.
