Artist unveils West Chicago cookbook

Mexico City-based Danish artist Gitte Bog will appear at Blooming Fest to sign copies of the cookbook she made in collaboration with the citizens of West Chicago.

In May 2010, Bog spent three weeks as artist-in-residence working on her project: “West Chicago Cookbook of Fusion Food.” The limited-edition cookbook features West Chicago-inspired recipes, such as meatballs with coconut and chili sauce and lamb with honey and chipotle chili sauce.

“This book ‘tastefully’ describes our diverse community and provides an opportunity to meet, greet and eat our way to each other, from the comfort of our own kitchen,” said Anni Holm, member of the West Chicago Cultural Arts Commission and co-founder of People Made Visible.

The cookbook regularly has a price tag of $15 but will be available for a $10 donation at People Made Visible’s tent on Main Street during Blooming Fest, 9 a.m. to 3 p.m. Saturday, May 21.

Copies also will be available at artXposium at Gallery 200 from 6-10 p.m. Friday, May 20; 9 a.m. to 8 p.m. Saturday, May 21; and noon-4 p.m. Sunday, May 22.

To reserve a copy, email info@peoplemadevisible.com.
