Man struck by Metra train in Glenview

An inbound Metra train struck and killed a man in Glenview early Wednesday evening, according to a Metra spokesman.

The man was struck about 5:45 p.m. near Chestnut Avenue, between the Glenview and North Glenview stations, said Metra spokesman Michael Gillis.

Gillis said trains were backed up in both directions until about 8 p.m., while other trains were canceled.

The train, no. 2148, originated in Deerfield and was scheduled to arrive in Chicago’s Union Station.
