Property values down, taxes up

I just received my 2010 real estate tax bill — real estate value down from 2009, real estate taxes up from 2009, Wheaton Warrenville Unit District 200 up from 2009.

We homeowners have had to cut our budgets, perhaps the school district should cut theirs, too. And by the way, District 200 officials say school districts must meet high service expectations. Just what is that supposed to mean?
